Most dog walks already loop: out the door, round a few streets, back for tea. Patch claims the path you walked and, once you close that loop, everything inside it as well.

You pick a colour for your dog. That's yours on the map until another dog walks it. Grey is still up for grabs. Everyone else shows in whatever they chose — you'll see them on the streets, not in the key.
Leaderboards cover Local, Pack and Global. Sort by most recent, territory, or stolen patches.
Patch is better with the dog walkers you already see at the park. Walk together, hold neighbourhood territory together, and leave sniff spots for everyone who comes after you.
Team up with the dogs on your streets. Everything the pack walks counts towards the same territory, and the Pack board keeps score between you.
Add a sniff spot and everyone walking that street sees it.
Lots of people never touch the leaderboard. They keep Patch as a private map of parks, rivers and beaches their dog has put a nose on.
A few years on, you've got a map of time spent outside together.
If you make dog content, run a walking group, or you're the one who keeps the park WhatsApp alive, you get a referral code, a tracked link and a cut of what it brings in. Follower count doesn't matter. We read every application ourselves.

No. Nothing fades on a timer. You only lose ground when another dog walks it. Their colour takes over those streets; walk them again and they go back to yours.
Yes. Ignore the boards if you want. You still get the walk map, personal bests and achievements from being outside.
