What is a sniffari walk?

A sniffari (sniff + safari) is a walk you stop treating like a step-count. The dog leads with their nose. You keep them safe and legal.

Why bother

Smell is how dogs read the newspaper. Rushing past every lamppost is like scrolling headlines without opening the article.

How to do one

Use a longer lead where it is safe and allowed. Slow your own pace. Pick a smaller area. Let them finish a smell before you chirp them on.

Still exercise?

Yes, just different. Mental load is real. Pair sniffaris with a few brisker walks in the week if your dog needs more cardio.

Patch note

Sniffaris pair nicely with sniff spots: mark the good tree or river access so other walkers find it later. And you can still close a gentle loop without turning it into a race.
